...yes, folks it's true: I chose to finish out my new floor, where it meets the irregularity of my fireplace bicks, with 3/4" manila rope...
..."But Phfrankie," I hear the Astoot Bloglodite cry, "what exactly IS manila rope? What, pray tell, is it made of?"
...Well, I'm a-gonna tell ya. Turns out manila rope, also known as manila hemp, is not made of hemp fibres at all, but rather from the fibres of the leaf-like sheaths surrounding the trunk of the abaca tree, a species of banana native to the Philippines...
...I used sisal twine (made from the agave plant) to whip (click) the ends of the rope, a nifty trick I learned as a Boy Scout, so very many years ago...
...thanks, Mic...

Rope very nice...is it tacked down? As for fire-proofing...i wonder if a spark would land that close...oh, silly me...of course it would, if it thought that YOU thought it wouldn't.
Cheers to you and La Baracca Nueva.
