~ In Walnut Grove ~

...went to the dentist, I did, in the BelAir, thankyouverymuch, and I spied this magnificent vessel tied up to the public dock...

I went down for a closer look and met the owner and took another picture. We didn't get to talk much onnacounta he was just leaving for San Diego.

I did learn from him, however, that the boat, built in 1931, was originally white oak frame with Douglas Fir planks. The guy rebuilt the entire thing with handmade laminated African Mahogany frames and African Mahogany planks, carvel style.

Oh yes...and thousands of bungs...

I didn't get to ask him but my guess is this is a schooner with a gaff rigged fore sail and a Bermuda main. Whaddaya think, Mic?

Hey! If you want a pretty good walk where you can look at boats and water and whatnot, do this: Park at the crocker. Walk over the freeway on the overpass thingy. Walk over the Tower bridge. Walk North along the River until the I-street bridge. Cross the I-Street bridge, walk back down the river (through old sac) and arrive back at the crocker. Took about an hour and it's NICE over there!!!!
