Here we see a cactus that I have growing next to my chicken coop.
This is remarkable for two reasons.
First, this cactus is growing out of a chunk of cactus that used to grow somewhere else, was blown over by the wind, was transported to the burn pile, layed there for months, would not die dead, was dragged to another spot on the property, was moved to another spot, and was finally placed, laying on the ground, where it is now and has thrived with no help from me.
Second, in all of its incarnations the thing has never once flowered. But as you can see in the bottom picture, there is a growth that is not like the others, it is round, and I believe it is a flower bud.
If you're good, I'll show you a picture if and when it blooms.
That is all.

I will be nice. Thank u.
Well I may not be nice, but that is obviously, a very desperate and beautiful cactus that has been struggling through hardship after hardship that you my friend have been imposing on it(Jack) and yet he thrives with the adversity.
Way to go Jack!!
Be proud!!
Bloom your ass off!!
Wear your scars Proud!!!!
I tell you what my good Sir, that is a mighty fine cactus; mighty fine indeed. When you big the first pic you can see how really nice it is :) I would very much like to see the flower when in bloom please.
Oh and it could not have picked a better place to decide to thrive. Looks very good against the chicken's house.
Unbelievable, and yet...
it speaks volumes.
Something you can neglect and still it thrives?
(well, not unlike the blackberries, I guess, but still...)
...or ivy...you can stop me anytime...
Brilliant! And I agree it is a very FINE specimen. Yea !!!
Uummmm. Me like-em the cacti (feather talk).
Great display of color's and shapes in number one photo.
When you were trying to kill the cacti, did you try running over it, stabbing it or pouring petrol on top of it?
You coulda sent it to the Pacific Northwest and rained it to death.
