Here we see Jimmy Smith, my ol' pal from Mountain View.
He was one of the first of the MountainViewtians to head North in what was to become a big migration of people from the Bay Area to the relatively wild environs of the Pacific Northwest.
He owned and ran the Palace Hotel and restaurant in Winthop, Wa. for about 20 years, and also founded the Winthrop R & B Festival, now the state's largest and longest running music festival.
It was with Jim that we started the ill-fated BluZwear business in the late 90's. It was also with Jim that I did my stint as a disc jockey and the name Phfrankie Bondo was born.
Jim is a snowbird and spends his winters in Palm Springs. On his way to and fro he stops here in Bondovia for a few days, and his visits are always greatly anticipated and enjoyed.
On his recent journey North he stayed with us and last night we went to Raley Field in West Sac where the AAA team River Cats play, to enjoy a few innings of free High School Baseball. Oh, it was keen!
Perhaps we'll see you this summer at the Festival, Jim!
