It's the birthday of Burl Ives, born 1909 in Hunt City, near Jasper County, Illinois. He was known as a jolly man.
In 1964 he starred with Tony Randall and Barbara Eden as the genie in "The Brass Bottle", which eventually became the television show, I Dream of Jeanie.
A lifelong pipe and cigar smoker, Burl died in 1995 of mouth cancer.
...and...
It's also the birthday of Bobby "Bird Cage" Bobolini, born, coincidentally, in 1909, but not near Jasper County, Illinois.No.
Bobby was born somewhere in the midwest on a circus train.
He was so wild as a child that Mssrs. Ringling & Barnum & Bailey put him in a wicker cage, where he remained the rest of his life.
He is most remembered for his recurring plea, "Hey! Get me outta this frickin' cage, will ya?! The cage!! Get me the frick OUT!!"

People marveled at the boy as he spun so quickly around the cage snapping at the dangled food before him that spectators thought his head spun 360 freely :) Not the case for Bobby but his Cousin to be born many many years later, Ragen MacNeil, hers spun freely; for the devil.
you guys are scaring me
