~ Burgdorf Hot Springs ~

About a half hour outside of McCall, Idaho is the Burgdorf Hot Springs. The main pool is approx. 50 x 100 ft. and is anywhere from 100 to 104 degrees. There are two smaller pools where the water exits the ground and they are 113 degrees. They are called the Lobster Pots.

Frederick Burgdorf, a sailor/dairyman, was shipwrecked 18 months prior to his arrival in North America. He read the story of the rich gold fields in Warren, Idaho. The thought of riches sailed in his mind, however, his adventure to mine gold didn't pan out. Upon discovering a hot spring in the neighborhood, he built a pool with hotels, cabins and barns. Frederick Burgdorf sold milk and meat to the miners in Warren. Burgdorf was known throughout the northwest for hospitality and fine dining. He stayed 50 years before ailing health and eyesight forced him to retire and sell to the Harris family, the current owners.

If I were you I would click this pic and delve deep into the....Idaho-ness of it all...

Thanks for all of this. I didn't know anyone actually lived in Idaho. I thought it was just a funny shaped wasteland name after a prostitute named Ida.

Don't you just love a field with all kinds of rusty metal and falling down wood structures?

Nice pics...all around!
